We’ve massively overshot the limits to growth: global warming, mass extinctions, deforestation, peak oil, groundwater mining—the list goes on and on. We don’t want economic growth, but economic degrowth to a smaller economy. But how do we get there? We need cultural as well as political changes.
This is my third video on “limits to growth and veganism,” based on the ideas for the talk I gave last fall on “Limits to growth and veganism” via Zoom. Please comment below on questions that you have or things that you’d like to hear more about.
Enjoyed the video very much! It touch on several topics dear to my heart. Seeking a simple lifestyle, bicycling, addressing where we have have exceeded the limits to growth. I am very interested in system dynamics modeling. Have the benefits of a more friendly transportation infrastructure that includes bicycling, a more healthy and environmental friendly diet such as veganism, and a new economic model that looks at an equilibrium economic model that is not growth oriented – been something that has been modeled or study from a systems thinking approach? As was stated, we need cultural changes, and that includes looking at our faith tradition/ethic frameworks from a new perspective which has been addressed in your writings.
